The Best Wildlife Expeditions to
Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands
 |
| Members of IAATO |
The Cheeseman Antarctica Expedition is a unique experience, the best
and most in-depth wildlife tour to the Southern Oceans. We do not make
such a claim lightly. We only operate one expedition per year at the
most, so that we can put a maximum amount of effort into the tour.
Reserve early! Our trips fill fast. To reserve your space, follow the instructions in each itinerary.
Please contact us if you have any questions. If a trip is full, contact us about our wait list.

What separates our expeditions from the others?
- We offer the most in-depth itinerary to the Antarctic Peninsula,
South Georgia and the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). The itinerary includes
3 days in the Falkland Islands, 6 days on remote and pristine South
Georgia,a day in the South Orkney Islands and 7 days along the Antarctic
Peninsula and its adjacent islands.
- We make more landings than any other voyage. We generally make twenty-five
landings in a cruise, sparing no effort to get to the most fantastic
sites in Antarctica.
- We give you as much time ashore as physically possible. Of course
you do not need to stay ashore if you do not wish to, but the option
is there. Most tour companies allow two hours per landing before shuttling
you back to the ship. Do you want to go to Antarctica to sit on a
ship?
- We bring more leaders and staff than any other company. Compare one for every
six travelers to the normal minimum of 1:15. Our 13 to 15 leaders
(depending on trip) bring you a richer experience, with natural history,
geology, history, art and photography expertise on shore with you.
Over the course of the voyage, we will have many guided walks, photo
technique sessions, and even a multi-part course on wildlife illustration.

- Many leaders also makes us able to safely land in challenging conditions,
because our experienced staff make can make the landings safer. For
this reason, we rarely miss landings, especially at such fantastic
but difficult sites as Steeple Jason in the Falklands and Bailey Head
on Deception Island, Antarctic Peninsula. For those who don't know,
these are undeniably two of the most fantastic sites in the world
for breeding albatross and penguins.
- We charter the entire ship so that our group is cohesive, and everybody
aboard is looking forward to the most in-depth wildlife expedition
possible in the southern ocean. We do not sell our tours through travel
agents, and talk to each and every client about what this trip is
(and is not - this is not the Love Boat nor Carnival Cruises!), to
assure the best experience for everybody, including ourselves.
- We charter the best possible ships for this wildlife expedition.
A ship that carries 75 to 95 passengers is ideal for traveling to
the Antarctica, as it is small enough of a group that we can all be
ashore at once without creating a crowd, yet large enough to allow
us to bring a diverse array of experienced leaders so that you can
have the best, most enriching experience possible.

- Our tour is the best value of any Antarctic voyage. We can do this
because we are a small, efficient company: you are paying for one
excellent expedition instead of paying for extensive advertising and
travel agent commissions. As evidence, we travel with mostly with repeat travelers and word-of-mouth
referrals. This also makes our voyages more fun!
- Our leaders and our participants are the most enthusiastic, excited
and fun bunch of people to travel with. You'll have to join the expedition
to verify this one!
- You will experience King Penguins, in colonies of hundreds of thousands,
Rockhopper, Gentoo, Macaroni, Chinstrap and Adelie Penguins displaying
passionately during the short summer months, and a million Black-browed
Albatross nesting shoulder to shoulder on Steeple Jason Island in
the Falklands. A lucky day along the Antarctic Peninsula has Humpback
Whales surfacing alongside the zodiacs and hours of sublime polar
light painting icebergs in unbelievable hues. Our amazing Antarctica
tour offers an unparalleled opportunity to become intimate with this
most superlative land of icebergs, dramatic scenery and wildlife.

- If you want the best in wildlife safaris, please contact us. More
than likely you will get one of the expedition leaders on the phone
(Doug, Gail or Ted Cheeseman), and as this is the trip of the year
for us, we are happy to answer your questions. We are more than happy,
also, to provide you with names and contacts of former travelers,
for an 'unbiased opinion'. Many of the tour participants will be travelers
who have joined us to Antarctica before some more than once!
- View the work of previous travelers: www.natureimages.org
- We publish and provide a trip log to each traveler after the end
of a trip, a wonderful way to share your experience with friends and
to remember this once-in-a-lifetime experience for many years to come.
