Happy Holidays to our Wonderful Travelmates

To us the holiday season means appreciation, and anticipation of the Great White South... we are soon off to Antarctica! Today we feel particularly fortunate and appreciative; Cheesemans' Ecology Safaris is as strong as ever, looking back on a year where we overcame one of the greatest challenges in our 32 years of safaris. A few months ago the owners of the good ship Polar Star went bankrupt, and we were left without a ship for our great Antarctic voyage. The obvious route would have been to declare defeat, to cancel this voyage despite it being the dream expedition for so many. But, -- and here is where the appreciation comes in -- as we shared the challenging news with our nearly full group, the response was one of heartening support and confidence, encouraging us to carry on, to forge a solution. Despite all odds, we did it, breaking our backs to keep our promise, sailing onward to bring to our special group the best wildlife expedition the Antarctic has ever known!

After more than three decades of wildlife safaris and nature expeditions, this year reminds us that is for you, our most wonderful travelmates, that we do this. We'll go to the ends of the earth to show you a fantastic time with the world's best wildlife!

• Peak season for penguins with chicks, whales, seals, and awesome scenery.
• Explore the remote and iceberg-filled Weddell Sea, wildlife-rich areas in the northern Peninsula and South Shetland Islands, and wonderful sites further south along the western Peninsula.
