Australia
Spend 25-days with us exploring New South Wales in the Southeast, South Australia, South-Western Australia and Tasmania. We start our unique tour with four days in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales with rich natural habitats from rainforest to heathland and eucalyptus forest to wetlands to rocky escarpments. South Australia offers a great variety of habitats including the famous dry red interior outback of the Red Kangaroo, the lush and green Mt. Lofty Ranges, and wetlands and mangroves around Adelaide. Our visit to special Kangaroo Island features wonderful Aussie cuisine in unique settings and stunning scenery; remarkable highlights include Koalas, Echidnas, Sea Lions, a host of exceptional birds and, of course, kangaroos. South-Western Australia features fabulous mammals, especially Numbat at Dyrandra State Forest. November is the peak of the flowering season in the southwest with many endemic plant families in bloom that will result in fabulous photography. Our grand finale is a full week in Tasmania for an in-depth look at unique flora and fauna, including two evenings for night viewing of Tasmanian Devils, something few people on this earth experience. Tasmania also features Wombats, wallabies, pademelons, plus the rare Forty-spotted Pardalote and other Tasmanian endemic birds as well as Eastern Quolls and Little Penguins after dark. Our leader, Tonia Cochran, a wonderful naturalist, guide, and conservationist, with be joined by outstanding resident naturalists to show you the amazing wildlife indigenous to this land down under!
