Species that were seen in 2007

The following list contains the wildlife that we saw during our trip in 2007 and that we have a good chance of encountering on this itinerary (this list is by no means complete). Many of these species are mentioned in the itinerary.

September 4 at Reserva Costernera:
Black-necked and Coscoroba swans, Southern Screamer, Silver Teal Curve-billed Reedhaunter, Sulphur-bearded Spinetail and Freckle-breasted Thornbird and 3 species of coot

September 5 in the Reserva del Huaico (Yungas habitat):
Grassland species: Darwin´s Tinamou, Red-legged Seriema, White Monjita, Golden-breasted Woodpecker, Whistling Heron, Great Pampa-Finch and Stripe-capped Sparrow. Forest birds: Dot-fronted and Cream-backed woodpeckers, Mitred Parakeet, Scaly-headed Parrot, Slender-tailed Woodstar, White-bellied Hummingbird, Gray-necked Wood-Rail, Giant Antshrike, White-winged and Crested becards, Brown-capped Redstart, Stripe-crowned and Azara´s spinetails, Buff-browed Foliage-Gleaner, Rough-legged and Sclater´s tyrannulets, Black-and-Chestnut Warbling-Finch and Golden-winged Cacique

September 8 Lake Pozuelos Natural Monument:
Andean, Chilean and Puna flamingoes, Andean Goose, Andean Avocet, Crested Duck, Puna Teal, Andean and Giant coots, Puna Plover. North American migrants, such as Baird´s and Pectoral sandpipers and Wilson’s Phalarope. Also Tawny-throated Dotterel, American Golden Plover, Least Seedsnipe, Andean Lapwing, Puna Miner, Andean Negrito, Andean Gull, Mountain Caracara, Andean Flicker, Golden-spotted Ground-Dove, Ornate Tinamou. September 9 Return down Humahuaca Canyon:
Puna Ibis, Mountain Parakeet, Bright-rumped Yellow-Finch, Giant Hummingbird, Andean Hillstar, several species of Sierra-finches, siskins, canasteros and earthcreepers. September 10 - 11 Iguazu National Park:
