The following list gives you an idea of some of the wildlife that we have a good chance of encountering on this itinerary (this list is by no means complete). Many of these species are mentioned in the itinerary

September 4 at Reserva Costernera:
Black-necked and Coscoroba swans, Southern Screamer, Silver Teal Curve-billed Reedhaunter, Sulphur-bearded Spinetail and Freckle-breasted Thornbird and 3 species of coot

September 5 in the Reserva del Huaico (Yungas habitat):
Grassland species: Darwin´s Tinamou, Red-legged Seriema, White Monjita, Golden-breasted Woodpecker, Whistling Heron, Great Pampa-Finch and Stripe-capped Sparrow. Forest birds: Dot-fronted and Cream-backed woodpeckers, Mitred Parakeet, Scaly-headed Parrot, Slender-tailed Woodstar, White-bellied Hummingbird, Gray-necked Wood-Rail, Giant Antshrike, White-winged and Crested becards, Brown-capped Redstart, Stripe-crowned and Azara´s spinetails, Buff-browed Foliage-Gleaner, Rough-legged and Sclater´s tyrannulets, Black-and-Chestnut Warbling-Finch and Golden-winged Cacique

Sianca Valley to the Lagunilla Ranch:
Comb Duck, Rosy-billed Pochard, White-cheeked and Brown pintails, Speckled and Cinnamon teals, Brazilian and Lake ducks, White-faced Ibis, White-tufted and Pied-billed grebes, coots, herons and storks, Southern Screamer, Snail Kite, Spot-flanked Gallinule, Red-crested Cardinal and many other passerines

September 6 Los Cardones National Park:

September 7 Santa Laura Mountains, Humahuaca Canyon:
Dusky-legged Guan, Cream-backed Woodpecker, Short-tailed Hawk Vermilion Flycatcher, Torrent Duck, Rufous-throated Dipper, Andean Condor, Andean Swift, White-banded and Brown-backed mockingbirds, Long-tailed Meadowlark, White-tipped Plantcutter

September 8 Lake Pozuelos Natural Monument:
Andean, Chilean and Puna flamingoes, Andean Goose, Andean Avocet, Crested Duck, Puna Teal, Andean and Giant coots, Puna Plover. North American migrants, such as Baird´s and Pectoral sandpipers and Wilson’s Phalarope. Also Tawny-throated Dotterel, American Golden Plover, Least Seedsnipe, Andean Lapwing, Puna Miner, Andean Negrito, Andean Gull, Mountain Caracara, Andean Flicker, Golden-spotted Ground-Dove, Ornate Tinamou. Lesser Puna Rhea, Vicuña, Andean Red Fox, Mountain Viscacha

September 9 Return down Humahuaca Canyon:
Puna Ibis, Mountain Parakeet, Bright-rumped Yellow-Finch, Giant Hummingbird, Andean Hillstar, several species of Sierra-finches, siskins, canasteros and earthcreepers. Valley: Rufous-fronted Thornbird, Pale-breasted Spinetail, Buff-browed Foliage-gleaner, Great Antshrike, Muscovy Duck, Gray-necked Wood-Rail, Rufous-sided Crake and Purple Gallinule

September 10 - 11 Iguazu National Park:
Great Dusky Swifts, White-collared Swifts, Yellow-fronted, Lineated, Blond-crested and White-spotted woodpeckers, Red-ruffed Fruitcrow, Scaled and Planalto woodcreepers, Pheasant Cuckoo, Scale-throated Hermit, Black-throated Trogon, Rufous-capped Motmot, Bertoni´s Antbird, Tufted Antshrike, Eared Pygmy-Tyrant, Plain Xenops and five species of foliage-gleaners, Southern Antpipit, White-necked Thrush, Plain Antvireo, Sepia-capped Flycatcher, Cream-bellied Gnatcatcher and 3 manakins: White-bearded, Greenish and Swallow-tailed, Black-fronted Piping-Guan, Nine-banded Armadillo, Agouti, Brown Capuchin, Red Brocket Deer, White-eared Opossum White-lipped Peccary, Southern River Otter, Jaguarundi, Tegu Lizard, many frogs
